It has been a while, hasn’t it. I had semi retired from poker to pursue some business activity (PokerFacePR
). I miss poker, well I miss winning
I also am missing travelling. I was actually somewhat sick of travelling all the time living in hotels and not being home. It is strange, for the past two years I had a somewhat strict work schedule. Everybody says he wants to be his own boss to put his own hours. Let me tell you the first thing you do if you are your own boss is to put yourself work hours. If you fail with this, your business will fail. Enough business talk though, if I realized one thing than that I do not enjoy running a business. Other people are way better at it, let them do it.
Back to poker
It is literally a back to poker. I have been playing very rarely the last two years. Mostly only Sundays and sometimes even skipped those. Interestingly enough I feel like I have improved – doesn’t everybody always think that? But in all honesty taking this step back from my game got me too look at certain things differently. Plus not playing all the time also made me think a lot more about what I do, it wasn’t automatic anymore. This made me more aware of the ranges I represent and got me to construct those ranges differently.
Live poker – wait I thought you hated that
Yeah, somehow I want to start playing more live poker again. Not sure who to blame for that, but I remember not enjoying it, yet I would really like to get back to it (love-hate relationship I guess). I would like to start playing some LAPT
and travel a bit while doing so. My roll is very hurt after my two business years, so hopefully I win something big soon and get back to playing live.
Deep runs this year
This year so far I have had lots of deep runs
1st 100c Ongame
9th in FTP 250k
17th 125k 888
27th in Brawl
26th Party 200k
It really is painful to get so close to some bigger scores only to finish short.
I feel like everybody always complains about how bad they run, how unlucky they are. To counter this, here a “I-got-lucky” hand played at http://ca.888poker.com

Saving stray dogs
This may be a bit strange, but very often I feel a very deep connection with dogs – a connection I really don’t get with humans. I really like helping dogs.
Mexico has lots of stray dogs, so on an occasional basis you will see dogs that were hit by cars or are just half way dying in a park. I would like to start to help dogs out a lot more. This is something that makes me happy. I don’t know why, but there is a strong feeling of satisfaction and happiness with each of those actions towards a helpless or injured dog.
We have just saved a stray Colli. We named him Wulfi – just look at the pic below and you know why. Poor thing was just lying in the park, he couldn’t bark or move anymore. We took him in, gave him a nice haircut and started feeding him. Damn did he regain his strength. He is a new dog now – doesn’t remind me of that shadow of a dog we found in the park.
And after a haircut and lots of food and water
